Remember The Titans shows that when people unite for a common goal, it is easier to see how our differences make us stronger. Sports require everyone on a team to cooperate for a single goal. The movie is based on actual events at a newly desegregated high school in 1971. In addition to new African American football players on the team, a new African American coach comes in, and the previous white head coach becomes the assistant coach. The mostly white community does not welcome these team changes. The coaches must work together to overcome their prejudices so they can lead the team to do the same. Eventually, the team overcomes their differences and starts to win games. The team’s success brings the community together and helps them see past their prejudices.
