The Princess Bride illustrates the importance of character and demonstrates how circumstances and people can complicate relationships. This movie opens with a grandfather reading a story to his sick grandson. The story is about a beautiful girl named Buttercup and her true love. A romance story doesn’t sound interesting to the grandson, but he soon gets absorbed in it. Buttercup is kidnapped by an evil Prince to start a war, and a masked pirate starts chasing Buttercup’s captors. The adventures that stand between the masked pirate and Buttercup are exciting and sometimes comical. The masked pirate overcomes incredible odds in his pursuit of Buttercup and only resorts to conflict when he cannot avoid it. He is brave, intelligent, and loyal.
